Image-Guided Surgery

Thanks to sophisticated softwares for CAT scan Dicom data processing, it is now possible to set up and simulate the insertion of one or more implants in a patient that has to undergo an implant supported denture rehabilitation. After performing the “virtual” surgery, the file will be sent in the form of a surgical mask that will guide the surgeon during the “real” operation.

The advantages of this technique are truly endless:
• The simulation also allow to plan and build a flying tooth immediately after the surgical step. Being able to predict the surfacing of the implant head and move it to a more favorable position for prothesic aims allows to foresee the aesthetic and functional outcome.

• Surgery can be performed without opening the gum flap, making the post surgical recovery faster and less painful. This being highly appreciated by elder patients who are maybe not in very good health conditions. Thanks to this technique they can get a permanent denture with less discomfort.

• Three-dimensional view of the bone available and the planning of the right prothesic parts minimizes the need for sofisticated techniques of bone regeneration, making the rehabilitation more predictable and less expensive.

• Compliance with nerves and blood vessels is guaranteed by a system that allows to highlight any anatomical limit and identifies safe areas around the virtual implant, so that even if there was any disparity between CAT data and the actual situation of the patient this would be totally minimized by the safety margin.
